This always amazed me, why does one lie have so much weight over many truths?
It is quite curious.
And it happens all the time, especially in relationships.
Are we humans so distrusting that it takes only a single lie to destroy all the trust we ever had in a person or situation?
Or does it go deeper than that?
Do we not trust from the beginning and only need one lie to fulfill the prophesy that someone is gonna deceive us.

Or is it the fact that when we are children growing up, we learn about the lies our parents told us from the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, and the Easter bunny, and so forth.
Do we as children, come to realize that we cannot trust anyone, not even our own parents?
Does Mass media have anything to do with perpetrating the lie, from the simple thing of misrepresenting the weather report?
What about the outside world, the governments that control and dominates its citizens?
Is it true that we should go on the green and stop on the red, when in fact, the color red is a hot color and has an effect on our adrenaline output.
Why do they tell us that green trees and grass have a calming effect yet demand that we be aggressive and race thru the green light? And why is this happening all over the globe?
Does changing the time on the clocks twice a year give us inkling that we may be being lied to because the time we see is not really the time that it is, and then again, what is time?
Does the idea of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer in a capitalistic world make sense to those who work really, really hard and still live from check to check, while the rich seem to do much of nothing?
Does the fact that we cannot chastise our children for fear of reprisal from the government, while the government can beat, rob, kill and steal from our children.
Does the notion that our water filled with fluoride is good for us and crops sprayed with pesticides and McDonald’s is healthy have anything to do with the fact that we’ve been lied to consistently.
Is it just that “one” lie or the many lies we live with day to day, causing cognitive dissonance that the “one” lie that causes a paradigm shift is so massive it has to be seen for what it is, a blatant lie.
Do we take the risk to discover all the other lies, lined up in history books, in magazines and even historical documents.. Or do we just say, that one lie is big enough and go on believing all the other lies?
Is this systemic to certain cultures, that is, those cultures that build trust in its members from childhood can pardon, tolerate and excuse mistakes or one simple lie, as opposed to cultures who start their youth off with a lie, or trauma, like circumcision for instance.
To insist that you are free but are locked into paying taxes, adhering to laws, some not even known till they are broken, and living under a chemical cloud that you have no control over, seems to be a big lie that everyone should pay attention to.
Is it okay to enforce laws that normalize abhorrent behavior? Or better yet, excuse those with white collars who participate in these behaviors, and in the same breath say, “liberty and justice for all”
Cultures that nurture fear, trauma, disappointment abandonment, deceit, etc, straight out the womb, are actually built on a web of lies, so I think from time to time that “one” lie may have an impact, then folks just go back to living in their delusions because the “real” lie is to preposterous to even be considered.
So I guess, I sorta answered my own question.
